Motivation
A growing body of evidence supports an integrated approach to health and wellbeing – one that addresses all aspects of a person’s life rather than treating isolated symptoms or diseases. This approach recognises that physical, mental, social, and emotional health are deeply interconnected, and that balance across these dimensions is essential for optimal wellbeing.
Central to this vision is empowering individuals to take an active role in their own health – through prevention, self-care, and informed decision-making. Digital technologies are key enablers, providing tools and platforms that promote healthy habits, foster social connection, and support mental and emotional wellness.
Research
The Digital Health and Wellbeing Cluster leverages digital technologies to empower individuals to take control of their health across all its dimensions. It rests on three core components:
- Integrated Health and Wellbeing Model A framework that recognises the interconnection of physical, mental, social, and emotional health, and the need for balance across these dimensions to achieve optimal wellbeing. The model has been developed with defined health dimensions, statuses (e.g., poor, fair, good), and drivers (e.g., vital signs, nutrition, physical activity, sleep).
- Digital Health Environment A system that leverages digital technologies — applications, devices, and online resources — to support health promotion and management. The environment being developed is an interconnected ecosystem of people, institutions, services, data, and infrastructure, enabling individuals to monitor, understand, and improve their overall wellbeing through technology.
- Intelligent Health Assistant An AI-powered digital assistant that provides personalised guidance across all dimensions of an individual’s health and wellbeing. The developed assistant helps individuals understand their integrated health status, make informed choices, and sustain or improve their quality of life by connecting them with the right people, applications, and data within the digital health environment.
