Dr Mahwish Kundi is an Assistant Professor at Maynooth International Engineering College, Maynooth University. She holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Leicester, UK, where her research focused on enhancing software requirements using FrameNet-based semantic analysis. Her current research focuses on Requirements Engineering for AI-based systems (RE4AI), with a particular interest in using multimodal AI to support the development of trustworthy, secure, and safety-critical systems.
Dr Kundi’s research explores how AI and multimodal techniques, including LLMs and VLMs, can support the elicitation, analysis, refinement, and verification of requirements for complex AI-enabled systems. A key focus of her work is bridging the gap between stakeholder needs, visual information, and formal system specifications. Her research combines Requirements Engineering, Natural Language Processing, and Multimodal AI to develop AI-assisted approaches for producing more accurate, comprehensive, and verifiable requirements. She has also explored semantic frames and LLM-based techniques to generate more complete, consistent, and verifiable requirements. With over ten years of experience in teaching and research across multiple academic institutions, Dr Kundi has taught a wide range of computer science and software engineering courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She has also supervised postgraduate research students, with her main teaching and research expertise centred on Software Engineering and AI-enabled systems.
