Dr. Duyen Hoang received a PhD in Soil Science from the University of Göttingen, Germany, in 2017. Following her doctoral studies, she joined Vietnam Japan University (VJU), Vietnam National University, Hanoi, as a Lecturer in Climate Change and served as a Visiting Researcher at the Institute of Plant Nutrition and Soil Science, Kiel University, Germany.
Dr. Duyen has extensive experience in higher education development and academic leadership. She played a key role in designing and implementing innovative educational programs and was appointed Director of the Smart Agriculture and Sustainability Program at VJU in 2022, developed in collaboration with the University of Tokyo, Japan. In parallel, she actively promoted sustainable agriculture in Vietnam by initiating and supporting several agronomy and agribusiness models between 2021 and 2024, working closely with local farmers and stakeholders.
Since 2024, Dr. Duyen has been a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Maynooth University. She initially worked on the DNET4SOILS project, which focused on evaluating low-input, sustainable crop and soil management solutions using an automated on-farm crop cultivation platform. She is currently contributing to the Future-Proofing Senegal’s Great Green Wall project, conducting research on sustainable land management, soil health, and climate resilience in dryland ecosystems.
Her research interests encompass soil ecology, soil-plant interactions, ecosystem-based adaptation to climate change, sustainable agriculture, and nature-based solutions for environmental restoration. She has extensive experience in international research collaboration, curriculum development, project management, and capacity building across Europe and Asia.
