IT-CMF is a broad and comprehensive IT framework, and is used to power a number of different Assessment tools for our Partners.

Digital Readiness

The Digital Transformation is upon us, and organisations across the globe are struggling to adapt. Organisations are aware they need to start, but unaware of when to start, where to start, and how far along they are in their digital journey.

Our Digital Readiness assessment is built on a benchmark of 160 organisations, assessed by our Partners across the globe. Using research from MIT-CISR, we have identified four digital pillars that an organisation may have, either all, or in combination.

An assessment of two halves

The Digital Readiness Assessment will first identify where a customer is at on their digital journey. We believe that the customer cannot take the digital journey without first knowing where to begin.

We have identified four digital identities: –

  • Localised -Customers who have a focused, but low maturity digital offering
  • Specialized – Customers who have a dedicated digital program, but focused on a particular area.
  • Globalised – Multiple digital programs across the business but of limited capability
  • Optimized – a high capability digital organisation with digital functions across multiple departments

 

Performance Improvement

 

Having mapped their digital profile, identified the customers digital drivers and barriers, the final step is digital capability improvement.

In this final step, the partner will work with the customer to identify their core digital priorities, and the capability areas that need to be improved, linking them to the critical capabilities in IT-CMF.

Once a partner has mapped the customer, our assessments can help the partner identify the various steps that needs to be taken to improve the customers.

 

The second half of the assessment will focus on: –

  • Identify digital drivers in the organisation
  • Highlighting digital barriers
  • Examining the critical capabilities which need to be improved in order to impact the digital capability.

 

Personal Data Protection

With GDPR on the horizon, the topic of Personal Data Protection has never been more pressing for today’s organisations. As businesses move to digital, they are collecting and retaining more personal information than ever before.

This burden increases daily, and the legislation protecting it grows as well.

According to the Information Commissioner’s Office in the UK, 62% of all incidents reported to them were found to originate with human error. The best technology in the world cannot compensate for a failure to follow process.

Capability vs Compliance

Many organisations are currently focusing on being ready for GDPR. They are focusing on compliance, and being compliant for May 18th 2018.

However, in IVI, we believe that compliance is only one small part of the overall data protection picture.

Compliance is important, and helps build the processes required under the law.

But having a process is not the same as following one. Being ready on the 18th of May 2018 does not mean an organisation will be ready on the 19th of May.

The IT Effectiveness Assessment is designed for just that reason. Unlike our other diagnostic tools, the IT Effectiveness assessment does not limit itself to just one aspect of the IT Department. Instead, it samples every aspect of the IT organisation.

Holistic overview

Built on the IT-CMF framework, the IT Effectiveness will examine each of the 36 critical capabilities in the IT-CMF Framework.

Using a carefully constructed assessment, backed by the same rigorous research that went into IT-CMF, we’ll examine every aspect of the IT function.

The goal is to help the CIO understand where their strengths are, and where their capability gaps are. Using this information our partners can quickly help their clients build remedial plans to uplift capability in the IT organisation, looking for capability trends that tie into the business objectives

Plotting the customers maturity

Simply assessing the customers capability is only one piece of the puzzle. As a partner, you need to be able to make the results mean something, to show them a path forward. The IT Effectiveness diagnostic tool will also plot the clients over all maturity on a maturity curve.

Maturity levels at the macro level

At each level of the maturity curve, we have defined a set of characteristics in the form of POMs.

  • Practices – representative practices at each maturity level that an organization might adopt to help it stabilize its current maturity or progress to the next level of maturity.
  • Outcomes – what benefits might result from following the practice
  • Metrics –  metrics against which the organization can gauge whether or not it has been successful in its efforts

These POMs can be used as the building blocks for our partners in their solution work for customers.

The goal is for the client to fully implement each practice, have a corresponding outcome which can then be measured.

When a client has implemented all the POMs in a certain level, they can then progress to the next level.

In this way, the IT effectiveness assessment, backed up by the IT-CMF, gives partners a way to diagnose their client’s IT landscape, and quickly built improvement plans unique to that customer in a formal research backed way.

Benchmark for success

If the maturity levels make it real, the benchmark gives the client context. We offer partners the opportunity to benchmark their client against our database of hundreds of companies.

This benchmark allows your client to understand how they’re doing relative to their peers, or within their vertical/region.

The benchmark is a powerful piece of information, and when used effectively by our partners, creates a powerful atmosphere of capability improvement.

Becoming the trusted advisor for the CIO

As we mentioned, the CIO is under increasing pressure.

The IT Effectiveness assessment allows a partner to quickly understand the CIOs needs, quickly assemble a plan of remedial action and give the CIO powerful information in regards their industry.

It quickly positions the partner as an expert in the clients business, and can be used as a platform for further engagement.
