The Innovation Value Institute tenth annual Winter Summit will attract a powerful and influential audience of senior IT decision makers from global companies as well as local organizations, government departments, academic institutions, consulting partners and service providers.
In addition to the ten-year anniversary Summit IVI is partnering with the International Conference for Information Systems (ICIS) in the joint delivery of its ‘CIO Symposium’ on Wednesday December 14th in the Convention Centre Dublin (CCD). On Thursday, December 15, the second day of the Summit will consist of a series of presentations on the use of IVI’s IT- Capability Maturity Framework (IT-CMF) by IVI member organizations as well as research workshops on topics such as digital transformation, skills and competencies, Business DevOps and agile methodologies.

Daniel Lebeau, Senior Vice-President, CBS & CIO – GlaxoSmithKline
Daniel Lebeau is Senior Vice-President CBS and CIO of GlaxoSmithKline since August 2015. From 1991 to 2000, Daniel held different positions at Kraft Foods including Logistic Manager and Information Systems manager and was named, in 2000, head of IT of the vaccines division of GlaxoSmithKline. In 1991 Daniel obtained a PhD in applied sciences in Plasma Physics at the Faculté Polytechnique de Mons, Belgium.
In 1984, Daniel was graduate in engineering sciences from the same Faculté. He also holds a diploma in management from Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL), Belgium. In 2009, Daniel Lebeau was listed by the US newspaper InformationWeeks in the top 50 global CIOs. He was named “CIO of the year” in Belgium in 2010 and “European CIO of the year” in 2011 by the business school INSEAD and CIONET. He completed an Executive Program at Stanford in 2014.
Jeanne Ross, Research Director & Principal Research Scientist, CISR MIT Sloan
Jeanne lectures, conducts research, and directs executive education courses on IT management practices. She joined MIT CISR in 1993 as a principal research scientist and became director of the center in 2008. Her research examines how companies are architecting themselves for success in the digital economy. She is also studying how companies effectively implement the capabilities offered by new technologies like social, mobile, analytics, cloud, Internet of Things, and cognitive computing.
Jeanne is co-author of three books, and she is a founding senior editor and former editor-in-chief ofMIS Quarterly Executive. Her work has appeared in major practitioner and academic journals, including MIT Sloan Management Review, Harvard Business Review, The Wall Street Journal,MIS Quarterly Executive, MIS Quarterly, the Journal of Management Information Systems, IBM Systems Journal, and CIO Magazine.
Martin Curley, Professor of Innovation, Maynooth University
Martin is founder and co-director of the Innovation Value Institute, a broad industry-academic open innovation research consortium and he is Professor of Innovation at Maynooth University. He is the chair of the EU Open Innovation and Strategy Policy group which is driving the further development and adoption of the Open Innovation paradigms in Europe. He is a member of various advisory boards including the EU CAF and the Smart London Board.
Previously he was vice president at Intel Corporation and director of Intel Labs Europe, the company’s network of more than 40 research labs, development centers and open innovation collaborations in the European region. He also served as a senior principal engineer at Intel Labs Europe. Curley lead Intel’s research and innovation engagement with the European Commission and the broader European Union research ecosystem. Previously Curley was global director of IT innovation at Intel. Earlier in his Intel career, he held a number of senior positions for Intel in the United States and Europe. Before joining Intel in 1992, he held management and research positions at General Electric in Ireland and at Philips Electronics in the Netherlands. Curley is the author of several books on technology management for value, innovation and entrepreneurship. He is a Member of the Royal Irish Academy, fellow of the Institution of Engineers of Ireland, the British Computer Society and, the Irish Computer Society.
Curley has a bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering and a master’s degree in business studies, both from University College Dublin, Ireland. He earned his Ph.D. in information systems from the National University of Ireland, Maynooth. He was previously a visiting scholar at MIT Sloan Centre for Information Systems Research.
Tim Hynes, CIO, AIB
Tim has enjoyed a multi-faceted career, holding Regional and Global leadership positions in blue-chip multinationals, and has led large teams spread across more than 40 countries. His last role with Microsoft was as Head of IT (EMEA) and from August 31st2015, he will be the CIO for Allied Irish Bank (AIB).
During his career, Tim has lead teams located in all parts of the world, including emerging markets in India, Brazil, and China and on the African continent. He has deep leadership experience in creating strategies and inspiring people of different cultures and backgrounds to work together to deliver successfully.
Simon Torrance – Senior Advisor, Digital Ecosystem Management, BearingPoint

n works with boards and management teams across multiple industry sectors, specialising in digital business model innovation and new growth strategies. Simon’s areas of expertise includes the internet of things (IoT), smart cities, platform economics, digital ecosystem management, big data, cloud services, and strategic marketing and innovation.
Since 2010 Simon has been a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global ICT Agenda Council contributing in particular to its Big Data programme.
He has a Masters Degree from Cambridge University.
Dr. Robert Winter, Director of the Institute of Information Management, University of St. Gallen
The Chair of Prof. Winter focuses on analysis and method design for enterprise-wide integration and transformation design problems in the areas of information logistics, enterprise architecture, and corporate management. Innovative „Business-to-IT“ business solutions are analyzed and designed particularly with regard to enterprise-wide integration and transformation management. Most research projects are not industry specific. Particularly dynamic industries such as the healthcare sector and the energy sector are however addressed in specific projects. The Corporate Intelligence group (CC CI), headed by Prof. Dr. Stephan Aier, is concerned with topics related to enterprise architecture planning, strategic decision support, and Lean Enterprise Architecture Management.
Experienced management personalities from major companies operating in various industries have joined forces in the Project Leadership group (CC KEY), headed by Prof. Dr. Peter Rohner, to find the keys to success for large projects and make them known to the public. For example the CC KEY developed the assessment tool for large projects “KEY to Project Leadership” that facilitates a quick and objective situation assessment as well as the automated analysis of major problem areas in large projects. Several large multi-billion CHF projects have already been analysed with this tool that quickly generates facts and allows for the early detection of risks.
The Health Network Engineering group (CC HNE), headed by Prof. Dr. Tobias Mettler, is concerned with the design, development, and evaluation of cutting-edge services for healthcare, particularly at the interface between healthcare organizations and patients.
Richard Corbridge, CIO, HSE

hard Corbridge is an expert in healthcare strategy and technology recognized by his industry globally. Since December 2014, Corbridge has been the Chief Information Officer for the Health Service Executive in Ireland and Chief Executive Officer for eHealth Ireland. He has been involved in the Health and Clinical Research Information sectors for the last 20 years. Corbridge has a passion for business change and benefits management in health and very much insists on a focus on engagement and benefits being brought to technology implementation. Corbridge has led the delivery of a wide range of systems and process to aid the provision of healthcare and clinical research. These range from the first primary care messaging system in the NHS, to the modernisation of the information systems’ infrastructure for the delivery of clinical research throughout England.
In Ireland in two years he has implemented a unique identifier for health, fully digitized the referral process, put in place Irelands first clinical information officers council, begun the global first epilepsy genomic sequencing programme and implemented a national lab system, a national maternity EHR and managed a reform of the Irish healthcare technology system that has seen a plethora of awards and recognitions. All of this with a budget of 1.2% of the Irish spend on healthcare.
For the last three years Corbridge has been named in the most influential CIOs in Europe list by CIO magazine. He was listed by Computer Weekly as the rising star of the IT Industry at the end of 2015 and in 2016 he was named ‘Person of the year’ by Ireland’s Tech Excellence magazine and listed in the top 25 in the global HIT100 list. In 2016 Hot Topics magazine listed him in the top 100 global influencers.

Vallabh Sambamurthy, Chairperson, Accounting and Information Systems, Michigan State University
Eli Broad Professor and Chair of the Department of Accounting and Information Systems at the Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University. He has previously served at the business schools at The University of Maryland and The Florida State University. He is a leading global expert on how firms leverage information technologies in digital innovation and competitive strategies. His work has been funded by the National Science Foundation, Financial Executives Research Foundation, and the Advanced Practices Council (APC). He has published his research in top journals such as the Management Science, Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, Organization Science, and the IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management.
He has served on the editorial boards of numerous journals, including MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, and Management. He served as the Editor-in-Chief of Information Systems Research for a six year period during 2005-10. In recognition of the impacts of his scholarly work and teaching he was selected as Distinguished Fellow of the Information Systems Society at INFORMS (2011), Fellow of the Association of Information Systems (2009), and the Distinguished Alumnus of the National Institute of Technology (Tiruchirapalli, India). He has also been awarded the John D. and Dortha J. Withrow Endowed Teacher Scholar Award by the Broad College and the Excellence in Research awards by the Accounting and Information Systems Department. Recently, he received the William Beal Distinguished Faculty Award, the highest honour accorded by Michigan State University in 2014.
Dr. Bernard Tan, Professor of Information Systems, National University of Singapore (NUS)
Dr. Bernard Tan is a Professor in the Department of Information Systems at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He received his Ph.D. degree (1995) in information systems from NUS. He has been a Visiting Scholar in the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University (1996 – 1997) and the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia (1992). He is a Distinguished Honorary Professor of Fudan University in China (2009 – 2012) and a Guest Professor of Renmin University in China (2009 – 2012).
Dr. Tan is Vice Provost (Education) at NUS (2012 – present). He was Associate Provost (Undergraduate Education) (2009 – 2012), Head of the Department of Information Systems (2002 – 2008), and Assistant Dean of the School of Computing (2000 – 2002). He has served on the University Promotion and Tenure Committee (2009 – 2011), the University Committee on Educational Policy (2008 – present), the University Teaching Excellence Committee (2004 – present), and an Expert Panel of the University Research Committee (2006 – 2010). Dr. Tan is a Fellow of the NUS Teaching Academy (2009 – present) and was its former Executive Council Chairman (2009).
Dr. Tan has served on the editorial boards of MIS Quarterly (Senior Editor), Journal of the AIS (Senior Editor), IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management (Department Editor), Management Science, Journal of Management Information Systems, and ACM Transactions on Management Information Systems. He is on the advisory board of Information Systems Research. He has served on the program committees of numerous international conferences.
